Thanks to the help of Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, the IndyBar Legislative Committee is currently monitoring various legislation that could impact areas of practice or the practice of law. These reports can be viewed at indybar.org/billwatch.

Last week was the final week of committee meetings for legislators as the end of session rapidly approaches. Twenty-eight bills were heard in committee and many more are advancing through second and third readings.

This week signifies the beginning of Death Watch, as bills whose amendments are not agreeable to both chambers are either assigned to conference committees for final discussion or cease to advance any further. Bills whose amendments receive a concurrence vote will proceed to the governor for final action. A report of the actions taken by the governor will be included with the weekly reports for the remainder of session.

IndyBar members can request that the Legislative Committee track specific legislation by contacting committee chair Mindy Westrick at [email protected]. View the full Bill Watch reports at indybar.org/billwatch•
