By Emily VanTyle, Wilson Kehoe & Winingham

If you haven’t heard, the Women and the Law Division (WLD) of the IndyBar has a quarterly book club, and we invite you to join! This quarter we are reading “Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar” by Cheryl Strayed. We will be meeting at Diavola located at 1134 E. 54th St. at 5 p.m. on Feb. 1.

“Tiny Beautiful Things” is a collection of short stories from advice columnist affectionately known as “Dear Sugar.” Sugar provides her readers with advice on wide-ranging topics, from grief to love and everything in between. Her stories and the advice within are masterfully written and will have you laughing one moment and wiping tears the next. The book, although filled with quick anecdotes, is filled with such depth that you will find yourself reading and re-reading, finding new wisdom at each turn of the page. Sugar, also known as Cheryl Strayed, writes in such a way that at times you will find yourself wondering if the advice was not plucked out exactly for your ears to hear. It is precisely the book everyone should read to start their 2023 off on the right foot.

More than just the book, WLD offers the book club as a time to network, chat, relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of all of our busy lives. Even if you have not read the book but still wish to come for the support, laughs and camaraderie, the door is open. Make sure you are on the lookout for all of WLD’s events this year, as we plan to provide plenty of programming for all. For any further questions or comments, do not hesitate to reach out to anyone on the WLD board.•
