Jared Correia

By Jared Correia, Red Cave Consulting

Data breaches are quite common for small law firms, happening far more often than you might expect. The obvious implication is one could happen to you.

However, if you create and observe a data management program, you’ll be able to reduce your risk significantly — since that document will force you to outline data security threats and how to manage them.

Some states require businesses maintain certain types of sensitive data to build and maintain a written information security program (WISP). Even if you’re not required to do so, it’s still a good idea.

The document itself does not need to be extensive. For a small business, 2-4 pages is enough coverage.

The truth of the matter is if you’re not managing your data: it’s managing you.

We’ve got a template WISP. Just reach out, and we’ll send it to you.
