Morgan Decker

James Snyder

John Allman

The Indianapolis legal community is fortunate to be home to thousands of individuals who work tirelessly each day for the benefit of their profession, their community and their families. Though most of this work goes unrecognized, IndyBar gathers each year to highlight some of our legal community’s greatest contributors. This year is no different. Several honorees will be celebrated at the Nov. 15 Recognition Breakfast at Meridian Hills Country Club. Among them will be the recipients of the President’s Awards for Service to the Association and the President’s Award for Service to the Profession. Selected to receive these accolades this year by Indianapolis Bar Association President Rebecca Geyer of Rebecca Geyer & Associates are:

President’s Award for Service to the Association

John Allman of Hester Baker Krebs LLC, Magistrate Judge James Snyder of Marion Superior Court and Morgan Decker of Rubin & Levin PC

IndyBar’s Commercial and Bankruptcy Law Section Chair John Allman, IndyBar’s Criminal Justice Chair James Snyder, and IndyBar’s Solo and Small Firm Division Chair Morgan Decker created an opportunity for bar members and others to raise money for law-related programs while network building. Inspired by conversation at the 2022 bar leadership orientation, they endeavored to combine their interest in providing a social outlet for the section members with access to lawyers from other practice areas. Ultimately, the idea for Bourbon at the Bar was formed. Adding support from Morgan Decker, chair of the Solo and Small Firm Practice Division, they organized a social event that culminated in nearly 100 attendees raising nearly $6,000 for the Indianapolis Bar Foundation’s public outreach grants.

President’s Award for Service to the Profession

Asian Pacific American Bar Association – Indiana Chapter

Michael Witte

On Nov. 9-12, Indianapolis will be host to the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s (“NAPABA”) convention at the JW Marriott. NAPABA is the nation’s largest Asian Pacific American membership organization representing the interest of 60,000 attorneys, judges, law professors and law students. In recognition of the significant honor and impact it is to have this gathering in our city, President Geyer has chosen the Asian Pacific American Bar Association – Indiana Chapter for the work in bringing these fellow legal professionals to our city. Receiving the recognition on behalf of the association is APABA-IN president, the Hon. G. Michael Witte.

Join us at 8 a.m. Nov. 15 at Meridian Hills Country Club as we recognize these outstanding lawyers and several others. Learn more about this year’s recipients and register online for the event at indybar.org/recognition.

Of course, in addition to honoring recipients, the Recognition Breakfast is the perfect collegial environment to catch up with friends, meet fellow lawyers and bar staff, and talk to bar leadership about opportunities for involvement in the coming year.•
