The IndyBar President’s Update is a regular feature where we share what’s been happening behind the scenes, celebrate wins, and give you a sense of where we’re headed. It’s a way to keep everyone in the loop, reflect on what we’ve accomplished together, and look ahead to what’s next.

• IndyBarHQ will be closed on Monday, November 10 in honor of Veterans Day. Thank you to all who have served and currently serve our country!

• As a continued way to serve our community of members, IndyBar will host our monthly headshot session on Wednesday, November 12. If you need (or want) to refresh your professional image, please come to IndyBarHQ anytime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and the IndyBar Marketing Team will take care of you! No appointment necessary.

• Thank you to everyone who attended the Antoinette Dakin Leach Award Luncheon on October 30! IndyBar had a wonderful time celebrating Frances Watson and the work she has put in to build up future generations of female attorneys.

• I hope you’ll join me and many of our colleagues at one (or several) of the Holiday Parties our Sections and Divisions are hosting in the month of December. Many of the parties are connected to CLEs, as well. You can view a full list and register for these events by visiting www.indybar.org/holiday.

• It is with deep sadness that I report that our esteemed Past President (2005), John Kautzman, Ruckelshaus Kautzman Blackwell Bemis & Duncan LLP, passed away on October 20. John dedicated much of his legal career to representing the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a fierce advocate for IndyBar where he received the highest award given by IndyBar, the Luminary Award, in 2022. John supported many other legal and charitable organizations where his leadership, professionalism and mentorship benefited so many. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his wife Kit and his bonus-children and grandchildren, as well as his extended family. He will be missed but never forgotten!•
