An Indianapolis man was found guilty of murder for his involvement in the shooting of another man at an Indianapolis park back in 2021, according to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

Keith Bryant, 27, was found guilty of murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon after a two-day trial.

He was convicted for the death of Keandre Coleman, who was 26 when he died.

On May 26, 2021, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to Wes Montgomery Park, in the 3400 block of Hawthorne Lane, on a report of a person shot.

At the scene, they found a man, later identified as Coleman, unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle. Coleman had multiple gunshot wounds in his face and neck and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses in the area reported seeing a gold, four-door vehicle at the scene when shots were fired.

Using social media posts, data from cell phone towers and witness statements, officers identified Bryant as the suspect.

He was taken into custody on June 17, 2021, on an outstanding warrant for possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

Coleman survived his injuries for a time, getting transferred to a skilled nursing facility the month after he was shot and then to his mother’s house under hospice care in January 2022.

He died on May 3, 2022. The Marion County Coroner’s Office ruled his death a homicide caused by complications of gunshot wounds.

Bryant’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 17 at 11 a.m.
