Attorneys Brent Huber, Amy Berg, and Louie Jorczak join the firm from Ice Miller, where the trio built a collaborative practice focused on environmental contamination matters. Each of the attorneys brings decades of experience helping clients manage and remediate environmental liabilities.
“We continue to look to expand our practice here in Indiana for McCarter and particularly into new practice areas, so we looked at this group as being a great opportunity for us in that regard,” Katherine Althoff, co-managing partner of McCarter’s Indianapolis office, told The Indiana Lawyer.
Huber is an experienced litigator who’s spent his career helping policyholders recover insurance proceeds in cases involving environmental contamination, losses associated with natural disasters and other complex business disputes. He told The Indiana Lawyer he’s looking forward to building on his experience at McCarter.
“McCarter really prioritizes and values the types of tools, the resources, the systems that I really need to deliver good outcomes for our clients, and that’s one of the things that stood out to me,” he said. “It’s a new challenge.”
Berg’s practice combines scientific, regulatory and legal experience, which inform her ability to advise clients on environmental, food, agricultural, regulatory compliance and litigation matters involving both state and federal programs such as the Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Outside of the legal profession, Berg has personal experience working on a family-operated grain farm in Indiana and operating an inorganic laboratory analyzing environmental samples.
Jorczak’s practice includes environmental liability and related insurance coverage matters. Throughout his career, Jorczak has represented commercial landlords, developers, tenants, owners and lenders in cases involving real estate assets and environmental cost recovery.

McCarter & English has offices and clients across the United States, including Boston, Miami, New York and Wilmington.
It entered the Midwest in May 2022 when it opened an Indianapolis office and hired eight Ice Miller attorneys and five professional staff.
The Indianapolis office is based in Carmel in the 1st on Main development.
Huber, Berg and Jorczak join a team of 13 attorneys, which includes Zachary Myers, former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, and 9 non-attorney staff.
