A new nonprofit has been established in Boone County to support the county’s problem-solving courts.

The Boone County Problem Solving Court Foundation will support the mission of enhanced substance-abuse recovery and reduced recidivism by providing financial support to participants in the court’s drug and family recovery courts.

“Sometimes, the difference between progress and a setback is as simple as a tank of gas or help re-instating a driver’s license,” said Sara Crew, president of the nonprofit’s board. “This Foundation allows us to eliminate those barriers and give participants the best chance to succeed.”

The nonprofit will be funded through grants and donations. In support of its launch and early operations, the organization already has received a $10,000 unrestricted grant from the Community Foundation of Boone County.

The funding will help remove immediate barriers for court participants and support the long-term impact of the county’s problem-solving courts.  Additional donations can be made at this website

Funding for the foundation will support the following participant needs:

-Incentives for program progress and compliance

-Emergency transportation

-Treatment access fees

-Employment-related needs (e.g. work clothing)

-License reinstatement
