Patrick Tucker, 33, was among several officers responding to a situation Friday, according to the Plainfield Police Department.
A fellow officer noticed “signs of possible alcohol impairment.” Tucker was removed from the scene, arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and booked into county jail Friday evening. He was released early Saturday.
Command staff asked Indiana State Police to investigate.
Tucker has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the recommendation for termination to the Plainfield Police Commissioners Board.
“The actions of this officer are unacceptable,” Police Chief Jared McKee said in a statement. “The Plainfield Police Department refuses to compromise the quality of service we provide to the community and will continue to hold our officers accountable and to a higher standard.”
The Hendricks County Prosecutor’s Office will determine formal charges.
Tucker started with the police department in 2017.
It was immediately unclear if he had an attorney. A listed phone number for Tucker could not be located Sunday.
