A woman known for being an award-winning paralegal and remembered for her “fantastic meatballs for any firm potluck” died Monday.

Mary Myers, 63, was a paralegal at Kroger Gardis & Regas LLP for 20 years with KGR Partner David Wright.

Myers also worked with Wright for 20 years at Johnson Smith Pence Densborn Wright & Health LLP and Leagre Chandler & Millard LLP.

“Mary was the consummate professional, regularly demonstrating that she was the go-to source of information for new and seasoned lawyers alike. And she set the example for others of ‘what it takes’ and ‘how it’s done’ in the sometimes intense, fast-paced and demanding environment of litigation (often novel, substantial and voluminous cases),” KGR said in a news release. “She was an integral part of substantial cases not only for David, but for other trial attorneys such as Bill Bock and James Knauer.”

She was named Paralegal of the Year by the Indianapolis Bar Association in 2010.

In his 2010 nomination of Myers for this recognition, Wright noted that “Mary has served over the years as an example to others, including new and developing lawyers, of ‘what it takes’, and ‘how it’s done’ in the sometimes intense, fast-paced and demanding environment of litigation.”

Seven additional lawyers joined Wright in nominating Myers for the 2010 award.

Wright noted, “The fact that Mary has left a trail of very impressed professional admirers speaks loudly.”

Myers received the Legal Support Star award by Indiana Lawyer in 2021.

“She would have been great wherever she set her mind, and we are glad she chose this profession for we were blessed to have her as a colleague,” KGR said in a news release.

Visitation will be held March 20 at 3 p.m. at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held the next day at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.
