Subscribe NowThe trustees of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute have decided to stick by a plan that withholds $1.2 million in domestic violence prevention funds from private agencies until they submit spending plans.
The trustees said Friday the money would be distributed as soon as it receives those plans. But activists on the issue say they've already submitted detailed budgets to the institute.
The trustees meeting capped a week of public fighting between the two sides over funding.
Dozens of advocates packed the meeting and told of funding woes as assistance requests jumped following the domestic violence scandal surrounding suspended NFL player Ray Rice.
Linda Wilks with the Family Service Society of Marion said her agency still has not received money that the state promised in July.
