Barnes & Thornburg LLP announced Thursday the new managing partner of its Indianapolis office. Brian L. Burdick, who has been with the firm nearly 20 years, takes over the role from Robert T. Grand, who became managing partner of the firm earlier this month.

The shift in leadership came after Alan A. Levin, who served as firm managing partner since 1997, announced in May his decision to step down, effective Nov. 1. Levin is now chairman emeritus at the firm.

The firm's partners elected Burdick, who practices in the governmental services and finance department.

“It is an honor to be asked to guide our growing national law firm here in Indianapolis and to build on what Bob and Alan have accomplished during their tenures,” Burdick said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to support the needs of our clients and community as we continue our tradition of delivering the highest quality legal services at a greater value.”

Barnes & Thornburg has 12 offices nationwide, including four in Indiana.
