As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowAn Indianapolis mediator has been selected by Gov. Mike Pence to fill the vacancy in Marion Superior Court created when Judge Robert Altice Jr. was appointed to the Indiana Court of Appeals in July.
Pence announced Thursday he’s named Alicia Gooden, currently a mediator, arbitrator and parenting coordinator at The Mediation Group LLC, to the position on the bench previously held by Altice. Gooden spent nearly 10 years in Marion Circuit Court as master commissioner of the Paternity Division. She also worked at the Marion County Public Defender Agency and in private practice at Kiefer and McGoff in Indianapolis.
Gooden co-founded the family practice division of The Mediation Group LLC in April 2010.
“I’m confident that Gooden’s extensive experience in both private and public law will serve her well in this new role,” Pence said in a statement.
Gooden earned her law degree from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and was admitted to practice in Indiana in 1996.
Gooden's first day on the bench will be Nov. 9.
