The Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law will celebrate now-retired Indiana Supreme Court Justice Robert Rucker’s legacy in the Indiana judiciary during a special program at the law school next week.

IU McKinney’s “Salute to Justice Robert D. Rucker’s Contributions to Indiana Law” will begin at 2 p.m. May 24 and will feature remarks from various members of the Indiana judiciary, including multiple attorneys who clerked for Rucker during his quarter-century career with the Indiana Court of Appeals and Indiana Supreme Court. Rucker officially retired from the Supreme Court on May 12 and has now assumed senior judge status on the Indiana Court of Appeals.

The program will begin with a panel discussion on “Justice Rucker’s Criminal Law Jurisprudence,” which will be moderated by McKinney professor Joel Schumm. The event will then move to a panel on “Justice Rucker’s Civil Law Jurisprudence,” a conversation which will be led by Dino L. Pollock, who clerked for Rucker from 2008-2010.

Finally, the original high court Rucker served on, which was led by former Chief Justice Randall Shepard and consisted of former Chief Justice Brent Dickson and former justices Frank Sullivan, Jr. and Theodore Boehm, will reunite in “conference” to reminisce on their 11 years together and respond to questions.

The formal program offering 2.3 hours of CLE credit will conclude at 4:30 p.m. and will be followed by a reception in the law school’s atrium. The event is free, but registration is required. Registration details and more information is available here
