A man charged in a Bloomington-area house fire that killed an 85-year-old woman has been returned to the state from California to face murder and arson charges.

Forty-eight-year-old Noel Montes Cazares was booked Wednesday into the Monroe County Jail after being moved from California’s Riverside County to Bloomington.

The Herald-Times reports Cazares was arrested April 5 in connection with Lerae Britain Moeller Bush’s February death in a Bloomington-area house fire.

He faces a Monday initial hearing on murder, arson, obstruction of justice and other charges.

Authorities say Cazares falsely claimed Bush was his mother and allegedly set the fire that killed her in hopes of inheriting her fortune, which is estimated to be in the millions of dollars.

Online court records don’t list an attorney who could speak on Cazares’ behalf.
