A South Bend man faces more than two decades in prison after he pleaded guilty to his role in two 2023 armed robberies.

U.S. District Judge Cristal Brisco sentenced Quadir Quiroz, 20, to 262 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to Hobbs Act robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

The Indiana Northern District’s U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Quiroz’s sentence, which will be followed by three years of supervised release.

According to documents in the case, Quiroz and another man decided on Jan. 21, 2023, to rob two young women. After luring the women to a vacant house, they held them at gunpoint and frisked them for their phones and car keys.

They drove away in the women’s car, leaving the women alone at the vacant house.

Ten days later, Quiroz robbed a gas station in South Bend, authorities said.

Quiroz and another man carried guns and wore masks and gloves as they entered a gas station store, according to court documents. They threatened the store employees and demanded cash. Quiroz used his gun to strike one of the employees on the head multiple times.

They obtained approximately $2,000 in cash and cigarettes, then left the store. Guns matching the ones used in these crimes were found when police arrested Quiroz and searched the house he had tried to hide in, according to court documents.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with assistance from the South Bend Police Department.
