An election to fill an upcoming attorney vacancy on the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission is open now through Nov. 15.

Attorneys who live in the Third District — which roughly occupies the northern third of the state — can cast their ballots online. Attorneys eligible to vote will receive an email ballot.

The attorneys running for the vacancy are Audrey M. Van Gilder, Daniel B. Vinovich and Louis W. Voelker.

Van Gilder, from Fort Wayne, is an associate attorney at Fletcher Van Gilder LLP.

Vinovich, from Highland, is a partner with Hilbrich Law Firm.

Voelker, from LaPorte, is a partner with Eichorn & Eichhorn LLP.

More information about the candidates, including personal statements, can be found here.

Voting will close at 4 p.m. EST Nov. 15.

The winner will replace Merrillville attorney Holly Wojcik, whose term expires Dec. 31.

Members of the nominating commission interview and nominate appellate judges. They also investigate allegations of ethical misconduct by judicial officers.

There are seven members on the commission, including three attorneys. Attorney members serve three-year staggered terms and are chosen from three districts.
