Police probe Hamilton County Treasurer’s Office misconduct allegations

Indiana State Police are investigating an allegation that clerks in the Hamilton County Treasurer’s Office accepted past-due property payments from family members and county workers without charging late fees. The allegation was made by former employee Susan Byer in a wrongful termination suit filed last month against Hamilton County, treasurer Jennifer Templeton and deputy treasurer Kim Good.

Insanity defense allowed for man in trooper shooting

A Clark County judge will allow a southern Indiana man to use an insanity defense when he goes on trial for shooting a state trooper in the head during a traffic stop. The defendant showed early signs of dementia, a mental health provider said.

Indiana collecting more DNA samples after new law

A new Indiana law is adding thousands of new samples to the state’s DNA database. The Indiana State Police lab has had an average of 4,200 DNA samples tested each month this year through March, up from 1,100 a month last year.

Ex-trooper Camm’s $30 million lawsuit dismissed

A $30 million lawsuit brought by former Indiana State Police trooper David Camm was dismissed Monday by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana in New Albany. Camm was twice convicted, but ultimately found not guilty of the murder of his wife and children in a third trial.
