Marion Superior Magistrate Judge Danielle P. Gaughan has been named the new Marion Superior Court judge, succeeding Mark Jones, who resigned from the bench Jan. 8.

Gov. Eric Holcomb selected Gaughan from the list of three candidates that also included attorney Charles Miller and Marion Superior Magistrate Judge Kelly Scanlan.

Gaughan has served as a judicial officer since 2002, currently serving as a magistrate judge in the Family Court Division of the Marion Superior Court. Prior to joining the judiciary, she was an attorney and supervisor with the Marion County Public Defender Agency and also worked in private practice.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts from DePauw University and a J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

She will be sworn in as a Marion Superior judge at a later date.
