The Indiana State Bar Association Young Lawyer Section received two first-place national awards Aug. 4 at the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division annual conference in Chicago.

The YLS won in the “service to the public” category for the “Why Lincoln Was a Lawyer” statewide community outreach program for school children in grades kindergarten through eighth. The section also won in the “newsletter” category for its quarterly print publication, The Network, offered to members.

Last year, the YLS won second place in the “service to the public” category for service projects performed in Indianapolis and Valparaiso, and took home a second-place award in the “comprehensive” category for its programs and services offered to members and the public.
