Marion Superior judicial commissioners to get raises

Commissioners in Marion Superior courts will take a step toward pay equity with magistrates under a proposal approved Friday by the courts’ executive committee.

The plan will increase total annual pay and benefits by about $8,250 per commissioner at an added expense of about $182,000, Marion Superior Court Administrator Andrea Newsom told the committee.

In other business Friday, the committee:

• Took steps toward converting Marion County’s criminal division to the Odyssey Case Management System. The committee approved a contract for technical support with the Judicial Technology & Automation Committee and a resolution required by state law to be approved by the City-County Council. The county’s civil courts adopted Odyssey this year; the criminal courts are schedule to go live in May.
• Announced that Marion Superior Criminal Division 19 Judge Rebekah Pierson-Treacy is resigning from the committee. Democratic judges will caucus in December to name judges interested in serving, and a replacement will be elected at the Marion Superior General Term meeting Jan. 7.
