Ten Indiana judges have been allocated additional senior judge service days for 2018, with two judges receiving nearly 50 additional days.

After raising the minimum number of senior judge service days to 15 in December 2017, the Indiana Supreme Court approved the allocation of additional service days to 10 counties in an order dated March 15. The largest additional allocation went to Scott County, which received 48 additional days in both the circuit and superior courts.

The courts approved for additional senior judge service days include:

  • Judge Chad Kukelhan, Adams Circuit Court, 10 days
  • Judge Thomas Felts, Allen Circuit Court, 25 days
  • Judge James Hancock, Floyd Superior Court 2, 10 days
  • Judge Steven Nation, Hamilton Superior Court 1, 5 days
  • Judge Jamie Groves, Huntington Circuit Court, 20 days
  • Judge Dean Colvin, Marshall Superior Court 2, 30 days
  • Judge Lynn Ellis, Martin Circuit Court, 15 days
  • Judge Jason Mount, Scott Circuit Court, 48 days
  • Judge Marsha Owens Howser, Scott Superior Court, 48 days
  • Judge David Riggins, Shelby Superior Court 2, 4 days

The Indiana General Assembly approved the allocation of additional judicial officers in Scott County this year, as well as in Jefferson, Kosciusko and Putnam counties. Senate Enrolled Act 126 adds one magistrate in Jefferson, Putnam and Scott counties and an additional superior court judge in Kosciusko County. The bill has been signed by House Speaker Brian Bosma and Senate President Pro Tem David Long, but had not been signed by Gov. Eric Holcomb as of March 16.
