The Marion County Election Board unanimously ratified the 2018 general ballot Wednesday and approved a resolution to extend available voting hours at the clerk’s office starting Oct. 26.

The board adopted a resolution setting early voting hours at the City-County Building starting Oct. 26 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The clerk’s office will be open for early voting on weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This follows a resolution adopted in July that established six additional early-voting sites in Marion County that will be open Oct. 26-Nov. 4 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends.

The board is currently interviewing for poll workers to run the six satellite voting locations, and requests bipartisan team appointments from each major political party.

Jenny Troutman, deputy director of the Marion County Election Board, said she hopes there will be at least 20 poll workers at each satellite site, totaling 120 workers in addition to the clerk’s office poll staff.

Also Wednesday, the board unanimously ratified the Nov. 6 general election ballot, which for the first time will include retention votes for Marion Superior judges. According to Director of Elections Brienne Delaney, the ballot was delivered to both major political parties for feedback to proceed with ratification, but it only received a confirmed approval from the Democratic Party chair. Delaney said the board did not receive a response from the Republican Party chair.

On the ballot will be 17 Marion Superior judges standing for retention for the first time. Judges seeking retention include: Lisa Borges, Linda Brown, Sheila Carlisle, John MT Chavis II, Steven Eichholtz, Alicia Gooden, Clayton Graham, John Hanley, Grant Hawkins, Amy Jones, James Joven, Helen Marchal, William Nelson, Clark Rogers, Jose Salinas, Mark Stoner and Heather Welch.
