A man who pleaded guilty to killing an Indianapolis store clerk during a robbery in 2014 has been sentenced to 52 years in prison.

Desi Thomas Jr. also faces a five-year placement with Marion County Community Corrections after his release from prison. He appeared in court Friday, about three weeks after his guilty plea.

The prosecutor’s office said Thomas entered Joe’s Junction on the near-south side, pointed a gun at 45-year-old Harry Briggs, demanded money and fired three shots. Security video showed him skipping away from the store.

Prosecutor Terry Curry said Thomas accepted responsibility for the “senseless killing.”
