The Indiana Supreme Court will take its oral arguments on the road this month when it hears a case in Steuben County.

Justices will hear arguments in WEOC, Inc., et al. v. Niebauer, 23S-CT-184, on Sept. 27 at Trine University in Angola. The case involves two restaurants accused of overserving a man who later killed another driver in a vehicle crash.

The Court of Appeals of Indiana affirmed a lower court’s decision to deny a motion to dismiss a claim that Wings Etc. and El Cantarito’s negligently furnished alcohol to the man. The restaurants had sought to dismiss Count III of a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the estate of the person killed in the crash.

The Supreme Court granted transfer to the case in July.

Nearly 500 students from Trine and surrounding high schools are scheduled to attend arguments in the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts, according to an announcement from the court.

The 40-minute argument is scheduled for 10 a.m.

Schools scheduled to attend are East Noble High School, Hamilton Community High School, Lakewood Park Christian School, Prairie Heights Sr. High School and Westview Jr./Sr. High School.

The arguments will also be webcast live.
