Katz Korin Cunningham, a fixture in the Indianapolis legal market since 1994, has merged with Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC, a regional law firm based in Kentucky, effective July 1. The combined offices will operate under the Stoll Keenon name and have 45 attorneys in the Circle City.

“Prior to speaking with SKO, our firm had not truly considered merging with another law firm, though we had been approached many times,” said Offer Korin, co-founding shareholder of Katz Korin Cunningham. “Through talking to leaders at SKO, we believed coming together would provide greater opportunities for our clients and communities as part of a fully integrated and purposeful regional firm. It became clear that one plus one equaled much more than two in terms of how we can enhance what we do as a team with SKO.”

Merger discussions began in July 2021. Financial details of the transactions will not be shared publicly.

Stoll Keenon crossed the Ohio River into Indiana in 2017 when it merged with the former Bamberger Foreman Oswald & Hahn LLP in Evansville. Through that combination, the Bluegrass firm gained a presence in Indianapolis as well—although the office remained small, having just seven attorneys at the time of the merger with Katz Korin.

“The abundant economic connections between Indianapolis, southwest Indiana and Kentucky have meant it has long been part of our strategic plan to grow in Indianapolis,” said Douglas Barr, managing director of Stoll Keenon Ogden. “We could not have been luckier to find a partner like Katz Korin Cunningham that shares our values and goals. Katz Korin Cunningham possesses experienced and highly skills attorneys who are equally dedicated to excellence in service to clients and community. This combination will allow us to getting serve our clients in Indiana and beyond.”

Stoll Keenon was founded in 1897 and has a broad footprint in Kentucky, with offices in Louisville, Lexington and Frankfort. The merger with Katz Korin and its 38 attorneys and 40 professional staff increases the roster at Stoll Keenon to more than 180 attorneys and about 130 professional staff.

The combined firm will consolidate into Katz Korin’s downtown Indianapolis office, located in the Emelie Building, 334 N. Senate Avenue.
