The Marion County Executive Committee is moving a criminal court judge to the civil side to replace Judge Cale Bradford, who's joining the Indiana Court of Appeals in August.
An announcement came Thursday that Judge David Shaheed, who currently presides over Criminal Court 14 and supervises the county's drug treatment division and re-entry courts, will take on Superior Court 1 duties. He was appointed to the bench in 1999 by the governor and elected to a six-year term in 2002.
Gov. Mitch Daniels is responsible for appointing another judge to the county bench, and Judge Bradford's successor must be a Republican.
