The world’s largest law firm now has an Indiana address as the combination between Dentons and Bingham Greenebaum Doll launched Monday as part of the global firm’s first step to creating a national law firm in the United States.

Dubbed “Project Golden Spike,” Dentons’ effort to build a national U.S. law firm has officially been launched as the mergers with Bingham Greenebaum and Pittsburgh-based Cohen & Grigsby have been completed. Going forward, the Indiana firm will be Dentons Bingham Greenebaum and the Pennsylvania firm will be Dentons Cohen & Grigsby.

Indiana’s leadership will have a prominent role in the new national firm. Toby McClamroch, formerly managing partner at Bingham Greenebaum, is now the managing partner of Dentons’ US Region, and Keith Bice has been promoted to managing partner at Dentons Bingham Greenebaum.

“We are very proud to be one of the foundational Golden Spike firms,” Bice said. “We firmly believe that this model unlocks growth opportunities for clients and enables us to assist them in new and significant ways.”

Accompanying the construction of a national firm, Dentons is also launching a new business model. The U.S. firms that become part of Golden Spike will have more autonomy in running their individual offices but also be able to draw upon the deep expertise and global reach of Dentons.

Currently, Bingham Greenebaum has 175 lawyers located in offices in Indianapolis, Evansville and Jasper as well as in Kentucky and Ohio. The firm provides transactional, litigation, estate planning, tax and employee benefits, and economic development advice to clients across a variety of industries and business sectors.

Through this combination, announced in October, Bingham and its clients will have access to more than 10,000 Dentons attorneys in 182 locations and 74 countries across the globe.

“We are delighted to be embarking on a new decade using an innovative law firm model to deliver better client service across the world’s largest legal market,” McClamroch said. “This momentous day would not have been possible without the vision and energy of Dentons’ Global Chair, Joe Andrew, alongside so many other talented colleagues.”
